A special musical event will take place on December 20, 2026 on the stage of the MVM Dome, with one of the world's greatest tenors, José Carreras, at the center.
The Christmas concert will bring the timeless values of classical music and outstanding figures from the international art world to the audience, in an elegant, festive atmosphere. During the evening, the most beautiful moments of the genre will come to life, interpreted by world-class performers. During the intimate concert, Katherine Jenkins OBE will take the stage for the first time in Hungary, evoking the spirit of Christmas with her inimitable voice.
The world-famous tenor, José Carreras, is one of the most prominent figures in classical music, who has performed in the most prestigious opera houses and concert halls in the world during a career spanning more than five decades. The career of the Barcelona-born artist has taken an extraordinary turn from the very beginning. He has achieved success at legendary venues such as La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Vienna Staatsoper or the Royal Opera House in London. His repertoire includes more than sixty operas, while he has also proven himself as a concert singer on the most important stages of the world. He has more than 150 recordings to his name and has been recognized with countless international awards. As one of the Three Tenors – alongside Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti – he also played a role in one of the most influential formations in the history of classical music, while in addition to his artistic activities he is a committed supporter of the José Carreras International Leukemia Foundation.
As special guest of the evening, the world-famous Welsh mezzo-soprano, Katherine Jenkins, one of the most successful performers in the classical crossover genre, will also take the stage alongside Carreras. With multiple chart-topping albums and an unparalleled international career, she bridges the gap between classical and popular music, while captivating millions of audiences worldwide with her elegant performance style and charismatic stage presence. A favourite of the British royal family, during her career she has performed for popes, presidents and princes, and now she is enchanting the Hungarian audience for the first time.
The conductor of the concert will be David Giménez, also born in Barcelona, who has also gained serious recognition in the international music scene. During his career, he has conducted world-famous orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Filarmonica della Scala. He regularly performs in the world’s most important concert halls, from the Royal Albert Hall to Carnegie Hall. He also has significant experience as an opera conductor, having worked with many world-famous singers, including José Carreras, with whom he has maintained a close artistic relationship for a long time.
This Christmas, we invite all opera lovers to an unforgettable evening. José Carreras and Katherine Jenkins, accompanied by the Budafoki Dohnányi Orchestra, will enchant visitors to the MVM Dome on December 20th as part of an unrepeatable festive program.
