Why is the 101 Hang – Depeche Mode Special Tribute so special?

This is no ordinary tribute concert. 101 Hang is a grand-scale musical and visual celebration of Depeche Mode, dreamed up by fans for fans. The evening’s highlight begins at 8:00 PM, when more than 100 performers take the stage: a 50-piece symphonic orchestra, 45 members of the Hungarian National Men's Choir, soloists, and live electronic acts – all coming together to reimagine, yet authentically revive, the iconic world of Depeche Mode. This production is a tribute, an exploration, and a creative experiment all in one. It comes to life on the largest stage ever built at the MVM Dome – an experience where monumental sound, stunning lighting and visuals, dramatic contrasts, and the most emblematic Mode songs unite in an entirely new interpretation.

Imagine white lights slowly unfolding from a black background as the music begins to pulse. A single voice breaks the silence – quiet but piercing – cutting through the darkness. The melodies build layer upon layer, and then suddenly everything fuses: orchestra, choir, electronic textures, visuals… and fifteen thousand people, together.  

The uniqueness of the concert lies in how iconic performers from multiple generations evoke the different eras of Depeche Mode.

Throughout the show, musical approaches constantly shift from song to song. Szabi Papp brings the rock-infused era of DM to life with his trademark energetic style, while Balázs Fehér lends a deep and atmospheric tone to the concert’s musical world. There will be moments when Gigi Radics performs a beautiful Martin Gore ballad – accompanied by piano, backing vocalists, and the symphonic orchestra – or when Anna Pásztor breathes new life into a distinctive DM classic.

Some songs feature reimagined musical foundations brought to life by Zsiga Bernathy, with the Hungarian National Men’s Choir joining in. Among the central figures is Tamás Molnár – as both songwriter and performer, he adds not only new shades but profound meaning and fresh energy to the Depeche Mode legacy. Alongside him, Lala Lányi's unmistakable voice and powerful stage presence take these legendary songs to a whole new level.

Lotfi Begi is also preparing his own DM versions – a personal project for him, as he has always considered himself a true Mode fan. At the heart of the performer lineup is Lili Fehér, an exceptionally talented pianist and singer who played an active role in developing the concert’s overall musical concept and will be heard on several tracks. For the edgier, more intense songs, Timi Arany will also take the stage – an essential member of this artistic collaboration.

The musical execution of the production is driven by producer Krisztián Szakos, whose expertise and sensitivity are a guarantee of quality. Under his direction, with the collaboration of conductor-composer Richárd Riederauer, new themes composed specifically for this evening will be performed by the orchestra and choir – enriching and elevating Depeche Mode’s familiar sound into a new dimension.
